KIRBY, ELDENA MONTGOMERY
KIRBY, Eldena Montgomery, 82, of Lexington, died Thursday, December 31,
1992 at her home. Mrs. Kirby was born April 24, 1910 in Rockbridge County, a
daughter of the late Otto Montgomery and Lillie Gaylor Montgomery. She was a
member of the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church and the widow of Emmett Lee Kirby Sr.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nora K. Vest. Surviving are three
daughters, Mrs. Agnes K. Gilmore, Lexington, Va., Mrs. Betty K. Adams, Buena
Vista, Va., Mrs. Martha Dorry, Roanoke, Va.; four sons, William E. Kirby,
Kenneth E. Kirby, Emmett L. Kirby Jr., George E. Kirby, all of Lexington, Va.;
one brother, Eldon Montgomery, Orange, Va.; two sisters, Minnie Yeargin,
Takoma Park, Md., Louise Vest, Stuarts Draft, Va.; half sister, Betty Skinner,
Takoma Park, Md.; half brother, Bruce Montgomery, Takoma Park, Md.; 23
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Funeral
services will be conducted 4 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 1993, at the Harrison
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Zeb Carson Williams officiating. Burial will
follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to
the Lexington First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8
p.m. Saturday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
