BENTLEY, W. EDWARD, ("BABY DOLL")
BENTLEY, W. Edward, ("Baby Doll"), 74, of Roanoke, died Thursday evening,
December 31, 1992, at a Salem hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and
was retired with 44 years service with the Norfolk and Western Railroad.
Surviving are his wife, Susie R. "Tee" Bentley, Roanoke; three daughters and
son-in-law, Patricia L. and Chip Evans, Herndon, Va., Melinda Kay Bentley,
Roanoke, Carol Lynn Bentley, Leesburg; two grandchildren; four sisters, Miss
Marie G. Bentley, Miss Jeane L. Bentley, Mrs. Norma B. Mitchell, all of
Richmond, Mrs. Anne B. Short, Roanoke; two brothers, Jack S. Bentley, Roanoke;
Donald M. Bentley, Williamsburg. A prayer service will be conducted at Oakey's
South Chapel 7:30 p.m. Sunday by Father Kenneth Stofft. A private graveside
service will be conducted at Evergreen Burial Park Monday morning. In lieu of
flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society,
9 E Church Ave., S. W., Roanoke, Va. 24011. Friends may call at Oakey's South
Chapel after 9 a.m. Sunday.
