BURSEY, HENRY STUART
BURSEY, Henry Stuart, 77, of Pembroke, Va., died Thursday, December 31,
1992 in a Pearisburg hospital following a long illness. Born in Frederick
County, Va., he was the son of the late Charles H. Sr. and Elsie G. Sovereign
Bursey. He was married in 1939 to the late Una E. Dorton in Stephens City, Va.
Mr. Bursey was employed by the Columbia Bread Company in Winchester, Va. for
25 years. He worked for Frederick County as dog warden and special police
officer for ten years. He became police chief of Pembroke, Va. in 1969 and
retired in 1982. Mr. Bursey was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Carolyn
Bursey; two sisters, Mary Wright, and Hazel Kelso; and one brother, Walter
Bursey. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Jerry
White, Stephens City, Va., Dana and Kenneth Acord, Elliston, Va., and Barbara
and Mike Welch, Blacksburg, Va.; three sisters, Elsie May Hodson, Englewood,
Colo., Gladys Adams, and Dorothy Bloom, both of Richmond, Va.; four brothers
and sisters-in-law, Charles H. Bursey Jr. and Lillian Bursey, Waynesville,
Ohio, Ralph and Patti Bursey, Melbourne Beach, Fla., Robert and Thelma Bursey,
Stephens City, Va., William and Jenny Bursey, Winchester, Va.; seven
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted
Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, Pembroke, with the Rev.
Raymond S. Kelley and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will be in
Fairview Cemetery, Narrows.
