SOMETIMES THEY TURN UP IN THE TRASH
The man was definitely wanted, so what was he doing in the trash?Rockbridge County officers found a Texas fugitive in a county trash bin Saturday afternoon after a resident reported seeing a man and a woman in the rural refuse box.
"They were acting rather weird," said Bob Weikel, a county officer who patrols litter, landfills and trash bins.
So he and game warden Steve Shires went to the cluster of trash bins along U.S. 11 just south of Lexington. They found a bag of clothes behind one of the boxes.
"Then this guy raised up out of another Dumpster," he said. Weikel and Shires checked the man's identification and found he was wanted for a parole violation in the Austin, Texas, area.
"I don't know if he was looking for something to eat" or what he was doing in the trash bin, said Weikel.
Gordon Wayne Carlisle, 30, from Marble Falls, Texas, was being held in the county jail on a $25,000 bond. He was on parole from an aggravated assault conviction. A hearing was set for Tuesday.
Weikel doesn't know what happened to the woman.
