SMOG NOT SO BAD IN THE VALLEY

I AM WRITING in response to a letter to the editor (Dec. 15 by Mariana Abraham, "Mountain views smogging up") on the issue of smog in the Roanoke Valley. I too have spent much time gazing at the beautiful Roanoke Valley from the Mill Mountain star; however, I do not agree with the opinion stated in the article. It is true that the valley possesses the ability to entrap smog, although one must keep in mind that the Roanoke Valley is not heavily populated. Those cities that are inhabited by a large number of people have the greater problem. RUBA KARKENNY ROANOKE
