HALE, HERMAN P.
HALE, Herman P. 82, of Roanoke, died Monday, January 4, 1993 in a local
hospital. He was a retired employee of Mick or Mack, a member and Deacon
Emeritus of Cave Spring Baptist Church. Mr. Hale was a longtime volunteer of
the Cave Spring Fire Department. He was an active member of the L.O.A. and he
served in the U.S. Army and the Marine Reserves. Surviving are his wife,
Sallie Hale, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Jo Ann Hale,
Charlottesville; daughters and son-in-law, Nancy and Roy Griggs, Salem, Ellen
Hale, Durham, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kathy Hale, Little Rock, Ark., Teresa
H. Edwards, Herndon, Va., Julie G. Light, Roanoke; one great-grandchild, Marie
Edwards, Herndon; two sisters, Myrtle Cunningham, Salem, and Josephine
Jackson, Erwin, Tenn. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel,
11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Rolen C. Bailey and Dr. Woodrow W. Clark
officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Flowers will be
accepted or donations may be made to Hope Lodge, 636 W. Lexington St.,
Baltimore, Md. 21201. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's South
Chapel.
