JAMES MADISON PLAYER LEAVING FOR RADFORD
Jon Hunter, a 6-foot-9 post player from Graham, N.C., is transferring from James Madison University to Radford and will be eligible at the end of the 1993-94 fall semester.Hunter averaged 18.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 3.4 blocked shots as a senior at Graham High. Radford recruited him before he chose to sign with the Dukes.
Hunter appeared in two preseason games and one regular-season game for JMU this year before leaving school. He began classes at Radford on Tuesday. According to NCAA regulations, he may begin practice with the Highlanders immediately but must sit out a year before playing any games.
In other Radford basketball developments, walk-on senior Shawn Blow of Virginia Beach has left school because of academic reasons.
Also, Stephen Barber, who served as a student assistant coach during the fall, is no longer with the team after graduating with a degree in business management in December. Barber was a four-year player at Radford whose eligibility expired after the 1991-92 season.
