HOLMES BOXES TO WIN

Larry Holmes, the 43-year-old former boxing heavyweight champion, peppered Everett "Big Foot" Martin with a variety of punches but never came close to knocking him down in a victory Tuesday night at Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum.

Holmes won a 10-round decision by 10 points on one card, eight on a second and seven on the third. Martin, 28, has lost 11 of his past 12 fights, four by knockout.

Holmes (44-4, 37 knockouts) weighed 238 pounds. Martin is 18-16-1 with eight knockouts.
