RAIDERS PUT AWAY BOTETOURT
North Cross watched as Lord Botetourt rallied from a 12-point deficit to lead entering the fourth quarter, then went on a 10-0 run early in the quarter for a 75-62 non-district boys' basketball victory Tuesday night.Botetourt (3-3) outscored North Cross 22-9 in the third quarter to lead 48-47. From a 50-50 tie early in the fourth quarter, senior center Mike Bryan scored seven straight points for the Raiders (7-2).
Bryan scored 10 of his 15 points in the fourth and added eight rebounds.
\ James River 74, Craig County 59: At Buchanan, Jody Steger scored 19 points and Romond Waldron had 18 as the Knights (2-6, 1-0) whipped the Rockets (4-4, 0-1) in the Pioneer District. Robby Huffman had 23 for Craig.
\ Roanoke Catholic 54, Timberlake Christian 51: At Lynchburg, the Celtics built a 10-point lead after three quarters and hung on for their first Virginia Independent Conference victory. Charles Cunningham led Catholic (3-10, 1-2) with 14 points. Timberlake is 4-4, 1-3.
\ Roanoke Valley Christian 60, Carlisle 34: At Roanoke Valley Christian, the Eagles overcame Carlisle's slow-down strategy to rout the winless Chiefs in a Virginia Independent Conference game. Sam Donnelly led RVC (2-3, 1-2) with 15 points.
