GOODLATTE'S STILL GOT YOUR TICKET TO SEE CLINTON'S INAUGURATION

Attention all those in the 6th District who want to attend President-elect Clinton's inauguration:

Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Roanoke, did not deal away your tickets to witness the president's swearing-in so his mother could sit in the House gallery to see him inaugurated Tuesday.

Instead, what he traded to Rep. L.F. Payne, D-Nelson County, for Payne's gallery pass was part of his allotment of tickets to the Inaugural Gala, one of the entertainment events that takes place in conjunction with the inaugural.

Those tickets are being sought mostly by Democratic contributors, partly because they cost big money - $125 per person. In fact, each congressman is simply given the right to buy tickets, not the tickets themselves.

Goodlatte still has most of the 198 free tickets to the actual swearing-in, which he's giving away on a first-come, first-served basis to anyone who requests them.
