RADFORD ROMPS PAST DIVISION III ALLENTOWN
Doug Day scored 19 points Wednesday night as Radford defeated Allentown 79-63 in college basketball.Radford (6-6) led by 29 points in the second half.
Mike Kearney led Allentown (4-6) with 18 points, and Tony Medina added 11.
Radford outrebounded Division III Allentown 40-28 and forced 25 turnovers.
Jason Lansdown had 11 points for Radford, and Tom Gallaher had 11 rebounds.
Radford starts its Big South Conference schedule Saturday when Charleston Southern comes calling. Charleston Southern upset Radford 88-83 in the 1991-92 league tournament semifinals the last time the teams met.
"Payback time," Day said.
Said Radford coach Ron Bradley, "The older kids, the veterans, have been like, `Let's get on with the league play' for about a month now."
