COURT ASKED TO STOP BUSH IN POSTAL FIGHT
The Postal Service asked a federal court late Wednesday to intervene in its standoff with President Bush. The agency said it had asked a federal court to issue a temporary restraining order "to prevent the office of the president from forcing the governors of the Postal Service to withdraw critical lawsuits."
Bush threatened Monday to fire the postal governors unless they dropped a suit challenging the independent Postal Rate Commission's establishment of a special 27-cent rate for machine-processed mail.
