STATE SEEKS $65 MILLION IN UNCOLLECTED TAXES
The state Department of Taxation has hired two private collection agencies to try to bring in $65 million in unpaid taxes over two years.The $11.5 million program, called "Virginia Tax Compliance Initiative," will run until June 1994, Tax Commissioner William H. Forst said Tuesday.
Other facets of the program include a panel to investigate records to identify tax deadbeats and a program to increase public awareness of tax laws and filing deadlines.
