VA. BEACH TO KEEP CONSERVATION PROGRAM
The city's successful water conservation program should stay in place a while longer, Virginia Beach's utilities chief says.Demand during October, November and December was higher than expected, which means the city will have to watch water use to make sure the city doesn't exceed its limit of about 10.9 billion gallons a year before July, Public Utilities Director Clarence Warnstaff said.
The limit is the water allocated to Virginia Beach by Norfolk. Virginia Beach could be forced to pay penalties for excessive use.
