3 TEENS INJURED AFTER CHASE WITH POLICE
Three teen-agers were injured Wednesday night after a car chase near Wasena Park that ended when the car plunged over a bank, Roanoke police said.An officer signaled for the car to stop after observing it speeding while heading west on Elm Avenue, Lt. R.E. Carlisle said.
The car accelerated, Carlisle said, and police pursued it over the Wasena bridge, onto Winona Avenue to the intersection of 12th Street.
There, the car went into reverse and went over the bank, Carlisle said.
The teen-agers were treated for injuries but did not appear seriously hurt, Carlisle said. A fourth teen-ager apparently fled the scene, and police were searching for him late Wednesday. No charges had been filed.
One of the teen-agers told police the car had been stolen, Carlisle said.
