PVT. MICHAEL S. BOSTIC, son of James R. Bostic and stepson of Ann R. Bostic of 8038 Mayland Road, has completed basic training at Fort Leonard E. Wood in Waynesville, Mo.
Bostic is a 1992 graduate of William Byrd High School.
\ LANCE CPL. DARYL R. SIRRY, son of Susan S. Wimmer of 1615 South Pacific Drive, Vinton, was promoted to his present rank while serving with the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Sirry is a 1991 graduate of William Byrd High School.
\ LANCE CPL. DALE E. BOARD, son of Edward A. and Mary L. Board of 4321 Cordell Drive, recently left for a six-month tour of duty to the Western Pacific with the 2nd Marine Regiment, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Board's battalion will be based in Okinawa, Japan, while conducting training exercises in other areas in the region.
Board is a 1988 graduate of Cave Spring High School and a 1991 graduate of Virginia Western Community College.
\ PFC. CURTIS W. CARMACK, son of Cyrus C. Carmack of 2823 Cumberland St., has reported for duty with the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
\ MARINE LANCE CPL. JEFFREY S. MILES, son of Fredrick W. Miles of Cloverdale, was named the distinguished graduate upon completion of the basic combat engineer course and was promoted to his present rank.
Miles is a 1988 graduate of Radford High School.
\ AIRMAN FRANKIE D. JOHNSON, daughter of Frank R. and Janie F. Johnson of 8665 Old Mill Drive, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
Johnson is a 1992 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS JASON W. HALE, son of John W. Hale of 5240 Singing Hills Circle, has arrived in Somalia as part of the relief effort Operation Restore Hope.
Hale is a 1989 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
\ CPL. BRADFORD W. BORIS, son of Johnny W. and Cindy L. Boris of 3759 Sandlewood Road, has returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
Boris is a 1987 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
