ADS IN NEW MAGAZINE BENEFIT DRUG PROGRAMS
The Virginia DARE Association has started a fund drive to supplement and expand drug education programs in schools throughout the state. The association has started a magazine that will be published twice a year to provide communication among members and to help increase public awareness of DARE. Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a unified effort of state and local police officers and the state Department of Education to combat the drug problem beginning in elementary and middle schools.
Hank Holland, association president, said businesses are being asked to buy advertising in the magazines. Proceeds from the magazine will be used to help provide DARE flags for schools, T-shirts and bumper stickers, and for summer camp programs.
Holland said the advertising proceeds will be used in the communities of supporting businesses. Articles will be written by members.
