ROANOKER CHARGED WITH NORTHWEST RAPE

A 33-year-old man has been charged with raping a 22-year-old woman Thursday morning in Northwest Roanoke, Roanoke police reported.

Police said Lonnie Taylor, of Donna Drive, was arrested following the 12:32 a.m. incident.

According to police reports, a man broke into the woman's apartment while she was sleeping and raped her. She managed to free herself and ran to another room to check on her children.

Her brother then came to the apartment, and the woman told him of the attack. The brother punched the man in the face.

Police found Taylor in the hallway and took him into custody.
