NO GOLD FOR `LEPRECHAUN'
Low-budget horror movies tied to holidays pop up from time to time. So it's a surprise to see "Leprechaun" enter theaters two months before St. Paddy's day.For that matter, it's a surprise to see this incredibly stupid cheapie in theaters - period. It seems a prime candidate to shoot straight to home video.
At any rate, this amateurish tale about a vicious Little Person from Ireland who chases his pot of gold to a farm in America is all high-concept and low-intelligence.
The acting is rudimentary at best, the script is nonsensical, and the special effects and make-up are bargain-basement.
This one is bad enough to be a hoot, but it's too slowly paced.
A Trimark picture at Salem Valley 8 (389-0444) and Valley View Mall 6 (362-8219). Rated R for gore and language; 95 minutes.
