ANOTHER ROAD LOSS FOR RAMPAGE 6-2

Another night, another loss for the Roanoke Valley Rampage.

The Rampage lost 6-2 to the Raleigh IceCaps on Friday night at Dorton Arena, extending a pair of ignominious streaks. The loss was Roanoke Valley's ninth straight and 16th in a row on the road.

Raleigh scored two goals only 16 seconds apart in the first 1:07 of the second period to break a 1-1 tie and ensure Roanoke Valley's 17th loss in 18 road games.

Raleigh (22-12-1), which moved into a first-place tie with Wheeling in the East Coast Hockey League's Eastern Division, outshot Roanoke Valley 54-28 in cruising to its seventh straight victory.

Jack Williams and Craig Endean netted the Rampage goals. Williams' first-period power-play score gave Roanoke Valley a short-lived 1-0 lead. Endean scored an unassisted goal midway in the third period.

It was Raleigh's fourth win over Roanoke Valley (10-24-1) in the past two weeks. The IceCaps lead the season series 6-2.

\ ICE CHIPS: The Rampage has been outscored 68-25 in the nine consecutive losses. . . . Roanoke Valley has lost 19 of 23 since mid-November. . . . The Rampage returns to the LancerLot tonight to face Hampton Roads. The Admirals have won four of the five meetings between the two clubs this season and are 17-1-3 vs. Roanoke Valley over the past 2 1/2 seasons. . . .
