Richmond to host Fortune 500 ForumRICHMOND - Richmond has been picked to host a meeting of about 300 business executives, scholars and government leaders Nov. 4-6, Fortune magazine Publisher James B. Hayes and Gov. Douglas Wilder said Friday.
Wilder said the direct economic impact of the Fortune 500 Forum will be at least $5 million. The event also will give officials a chance to promote economic development in Virginia, he said.
Hayes said 20 cities, ranging in size from San Diego to Annapolis, Md., applied to host the forum. He said Richmond was chosen because it "just oozes history. That's such a compelling part of this event."
The forum will include discussions of international trade, the U.S. economy and business ethics, Hayes said. - Associated Press
