HARRIS ANNIVERSARY

Dr. John L. and Mildred Catherine Harris celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, December 27, 1992 at the Elks Club. The gathering was hosted by their children, Judith H. Smith, Charlotte, N.C.; Dr. John L. Harris, III, Roanoke; Capt. Frank M. Harris, FortWalton Beach, Fla.; and their families. They were married on Dec. 31, 1942 in the Trinity Methodist Church and when Dr. Harris completed his military service and medical training, the couple moved to Roanoke in 1953. Mildred is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eades. There are 5 grandchildren. Dr. Harris was formerly the Chief of Rehab Medicine at the V.A. Hospital in Salem and Mrs. Harris is a homemaker. They both are active in the St. Thomas of Canterbury Anglican Catholic Church and they have been invested as Chevalier and Dame in the Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, the world's oldest order of Chivalry.
