FOR THE RECORD
ClarificationA story in Saturday's New River Valley Current about candidates for the Montgomery County School Board characterized the Straight Street Teen Center in Christiansburg, founded by board candidate Robert Anderson, as being "Christian-oriented." Anderson says the center is operated by Christians but opens its doors to non-Christians and, because of that, he does not consider it Christian-oriented. In regard to the recent controversy over the naming of school holidays in Montgomery County, Anderson said he has a personal opinion on the issue but it might not be the same as that of the Christians who have spoken out both in favor and opposed to returning to traditional Christian holiday names.
