COUGARS DOWN BLACKSBURG
Pulaski County dominated the rebounding, led by 11 points at halftime and cruised to a 60-53 non-district boys high school victory over Blacksburg on Saturday.Chris Foster led the Cougars (7-2) with 19 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor. Tyrone Hash had 17 points and Monty Brown 12 for the Cougars, who led by 17 points in the fourth quarter. Eric Webb had 12 rebounds as Pulaski County had a 41-20 advantage on the boards.
The Indians got 16 points from Craig Turman and 15 from Jay Safford. \

BLACKSBURG - The Crusaders were behind by 21 at the end of the third quarter but put on a furious comeback and were able to overcome the Indians.
Sam Moore had 28 points, Brad Ewing 23, David Arthur 21 and Tommy Brookman 18 for Gateway Christian (3-1).
George Wood led all scorers with 33 for the Indians. Chris Hicks added 21, Donnie Costigan 18 and Patrick Hall 11. \

ROCKY MOUNT - Tremayne McHeimer had 23 points, including a 3-pointer from halfcourt at the end of the first half, and the Eagles knocked off the Hilltoppers in a non-district matchup.
Franklin County (7-3), which led by 14 with five minutes to go, got its fifth straight win. E.C. Glass put on a strong cameback with guard Shawn West's two dunks within 30 seconds and 10 of his 22 points in a span of just over two minutes. The Hilltoppers (4-7) couldn't get closer than three though.
Robert Cooke added 20 for Franklin County. \

LYNCHBURG - Patrick Henry's leading scorer, Shannon Taylor, returned after a one-game suspension to score a game-high 15 points, but the Patriots (1-8) still suffered their sixth consecutive loss against the only team they've beaten this year.
Heritage (3-6) was led by Brian Garland with 14 and Mike Preston with 13 as the Pioneers rallied from behind in the final quarter. \

Melanie Ren scored 13 as the Pioneers survived a late Patriot rally and defeated Patrick Henry for a non-district girls victory.
Patrick Henry was down 27-15 at halftime, but Michelle King sank three 3-pointers in the second half to bring the Patriots close.
Patrick Henry (1-9) tied the score in the fourth quarter but missed four free throws in the closing minutes.
Caroline Mays paced the Patriots with 17 points. \
