SALEM SLAMS NORTH CROSS
Salem eclipsed the century mark for the second time this season and routed North Cross 105-76 in a non-district game Saturday.Mark Byington led five Salem players in double figures with 22 points, including five 3-pointers. Nathan Routt added 16 points and 11 rebounds while Josh Pugh had 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Marcus Cardwell led North Cross (8-3) with 23 points while Smith had 13 and Mike Bryan 12.
In December, Salem (7-0) defeated Radford 104-64. \
St. Vincent's 84

PETERSBURG - James West scored 27 points and Matt Baird added 26 as St. Vincent's (6-4) defeated the Celtics in a non-district game.
Mike Kolnok had 17 points and Tony Williams added 16 points and nine rebounds for Roanoke Catholic (2-11). \

Roanoke Valley Christian 70
The Eagles, down by 17 at the half, outscored the Gaels 22-12 in the third quarter only to come up short in the final period of the Virginia Independent game.
Preston Snell had 27 to lead Holy Cross. Brad Suhr had 19 for Roanoke Valley Christian (2-5 overall, 1-3 conference). Scott Apjok added 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Billy Fluker scored 16 for RVC. \

LYNCHBURG - Patrick Henry's leading scorer, Shannon Taylor, returned after a one-game suspension to score a game-high 15 points, but the Patriots (1-8) suffered their sixth consecutive loss against the only team they've beaten this year.
Heritage (3-6) was led by Brian Garland with 14 and Mike Preston with 13 as the Pioneers rallied from behind in the final quarter. \

Brandi Surkamer had 13 points to lead Roanoke Valley Christian to a Blue Ridge Conference victory. The Eagles (5-6 overall, 4-0 Blue Ridge) led 22-18 at halftime and held on for the victory. \
