CAR ACCIDENT KILLS CLIFTON FORGE MAN
A Clifton Forge man died Saturday night from injuries he received in a weather-related car accident in Augusta County, a state police dispatcher said.Donald Ray Smith, 20, was a passenger in a compact car that hit a patch of ice on Virginia 42 and skidded into some trees, the dispatcher said.
Smith was taken to King's Daughters' Hospital in Staunton where he died at 9:34 p.m., a little more than an hour after the single-car accident in the North Mountain section of Augusta County, the dispatcher said.
The driver of the car was identified as Jeffery Tinsley, whose age and address were not available in a preliminary accident report by Trooper T.D. Daniel.
Tinsley was listed in satisfactory condition Sunday night at King's Daughters' Hospital, according to a nursing supervisor.
A graveside service for Smith is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Cemetery in Clifton Forge.
