Ferrum (3-7) used a full-court press to create 12 steals in the first 10 minutes and jumped to a 22-8 lead en route to an 87-61 women's victory Sunday over Hilbert College of New York in the third-place game of the North/South Tournament in Doylestown, Pa. Nikki Claiborne led Ferrum with 22 points and 12 rebounds.In Charlottesville, Charles Brown scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures as St. Anne's-Belfield defeated Roanoke Catholic 67-55 in a boys' non-conference high school game. Tony Williams led the Celtics (3-12) with 14 points.
In Charlottesville, Roanoke Catholic (8-2) got in foul trouble early and St. Anne's-Belfield (4-1) made 20 of 31 free throws en route to a 66-48 non-conference girls' high school victory.
