QUIT JABBING AT FIRST UNION
THE COLUMN in the Roanoke Times & World-News on Jan. 6 by Ed Shamy, "Advice from a company that cares," is in poor taste. Even worse, it fails completely in its attempt to be humorous.First Union has thousands of very fine employees who are blessed with great opportunity. Dominion Bank and its remaining employees are most fortunate that First Union is the new owner and there is a wonderful opportunity ahead. To focus on the negative is destructive to everyone, including the community.
Would you please redirect your misguided staff and let's get on with creating a positive atmosphere. JOHN W. BURRESS III ROANOKE
