COURT REJECTS DEATH ROW INMATE'S APPEAL

Virginia death row inmate Ronald Watkins, convicted of a 1988 murder in Danville, lost a Supreme Court appeal today.

The court, without comment, let stand rulings that Watkins received a fair trial.

His appeal alleged racial bias in the selection of jurors and misconduct by prosecutors and police.

Watkins was convicted of fatally stabbing William McCauley, the owner of a package-shipping company, on May 26, 1988. - Associated Press
