COUPLE WITH BURNED TRAILER HAS BENEFIT FUND ESTABLISHED

The Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program has established a fund to help Robert and Rose Lytton, a Christiansburg couple whose mobile home was severely damaged in a New Year's Eve fire.

The fire, which occurred around 10 a.m. in the Dogwood Mobile Home Park, started in an electric window fan. Contents of the trailer were destroyed by smoke.

"What the fire didn't burn up was so heavily damaged by smoke, it's unusable," said Robert Lytton, a 62-year-old retired contractor.

Lytton's wife, Rose, 56, is employed at Industrial Drives in Radford.

The couple was away from home when the fire began. A neighbor heard the smoke alarm and called the Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Department.

The mobile home was not insured.

The Lyttons said they owned the home and rented a lot at the trailer court.

"All we had left was the clothes we were wearing," Lytton said.

The Lyttons' daughter, Ellen Sue McGuire, said members of the Radford Wesleyan Church are collecting clothing and household items and the Central Methodist Church of Radford has donated $100 to help the couple.

The Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program is accepting donations of money. Checks should be made to the MCEAP and earmarked for Robert Lytton.

The mailing address is P.O. Box 238, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.
