CLINTON'S IDEAS ENSURE UPHEAVAL, FALWELL SAYS

President-elect Bill Clinton has dangerous views that threaten upheaval in the country, the Rev. Jerry Falwell says.

Falwell, in Sunday sermons at the First Baptist Church, criticized Clinton's call for lifting the ban on gays in the military and for proposed federal legislation to protect abortion rights.

"If Clinton enacts his platform, he is going to guarantee upheaval in the country," Falwell told The Dallas Morning News between church services. "If he does some of the things he's talking about, he'll blow the dome off the Capitol."

Falwell predicted that Clinton's policies would rekindle support for movements like the Moral Majority, the conservative group the Virginia Baptist minister founded in 1979. The group took credit for registering millions of voters to help defeat Jimmy Carter in 1980 and elect Ronald Reagan to consecutive terms. - Associated Press
