Dutch Rennert is retiring as a National League umpire after more than 19 seasons in the big leagues, the NL said.

Rennert, 58, has complained of weakening eyes and knees. He umpired his first NL game on Sept. 7, 1973, and joined the league full-time in April of the following season.

He umpired the World Series in 1980, 1983 and 1989, and the playoffs in 1977, 1981, 1982, 1986, 1988 and 1990. He also umpired the All-Star game in 1979 and 1984.
