2 INDICTED IN GILES COUNTY ON MARIJUANA CHARGES

Two Giles County people were indicted Tuesday on felony charges of manufacturing marijuana with intent to distribute.

James C. Canterbury, 34, and Connie Sue Neal, 33, of Lurich Road near Glen Lyn face two felony charges each of growing marijuana and possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, Commonwealth's Attorney James Hartley said.

The charges are a result of an Aug. 6 search based on information received by the Giles County Drug Task Force.

About 7 1/2 pounds of marijuana was confiscated. Also found were 27 growing plants and other containers of processed marijuana, growing lights and other paraphernalia, Hartley said.

The task force is composed of the Giles County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police, Narrows and Pearisburg police departments, the state Alcoholic Beverage Control department and the commonwealth's attorney office.
