MORE SEATING FOR SPEEDWAY

Charlotte Motor Speedway officials were expected to announce today an ambitious 10-year expansion program intended to double the seating capacity of the 117,000-seat facility.

To reach their goal, speedway officials will ask for a road improvement and expansion program from the state of North Carolina and Cabarrus County that goes well beyond the already approved new Interstate 85 exit and access road.

The announcement was to be part of a noon luncheon today on the future of the speedway during the preseason NASCAR media tour.
