Brad Melton had 10 points and 16 rebounds as host Glenvar outlasted Bath County 54-50 in a Pioneer District boys' basketball game Tuesday night.Glenvar (6-3 overall, 3-0 in the district) dominated the rebounding 49-11.
Bath County is 5-6 and 1-1.
Glenvar led by two late in the game when Wes Jones was fouled intentionally. He made both free throws, and Melton scored on the ensuing possession to give Glenvar a six-point cushion.
Glenvar got 14 points from Jones and 11 from Jason Anderson.

\ James River 77, Highland 55: At Buchanan, Lloyd Moore had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Knights to a Pioneer District victory over Highland (2-5, 0-3). Troy Thompson added 15 points and Jody Steger had 13 for James River (3-8, 2-1).\ Cave Spring 53, E.C. Glass 47: At Lynchburg, the Knights ripped off 14 unanswered points to overcome an nine-point second-half deficit and record the non-district win over the Hilltoppers (4-7). Robbie Hibbs led Cave Spring with 13 points.\ North Cross 86, Timberlake 71: At Lynchburg, Marcus Cardwell's 27 points, including four three-pointers, and seven assists led North Cross (10-3, 3-0) to a Virginia Independent Conference victory over Timberlake (6-6, 1-3). \ Franklin County 49, Patrick Henry 30: At Rocky Mount, Andrea Barnhart scored 10 of her 13 points in the fourth quarter to help the Eagles (7-4, 2-3) pull away from the Patriots (1-10, 0-5) in a Roanoke Valley District game. \ Roanoke Valley Christian 33, North Cross 31: Tiffany Hogan scored 10 points as the visiting Eagles (5-6, 4-0) held off the Raiders (2-5, 0-2) in a Blue Ridge Conference game. North Cross, down 10-3 at halftime, outscored RVC 28-23 in the second half, hitting 12 of 15 free throws. Emily Cook had 15 points for the Raiders.\ Roanoke Catholic 43, Carlisle 40: At Martinsville, Jackie Hinman scored 20 points and Abby Dickson grabbed 10 rebounds for the Celtics (9-2, 4-1) in a Blue Ridge Conference victory over the Chiefs.\ Pulaski County 50, William Fleming 40: An 18-8 second-quarter run was the difference in the visiting Cougars' Roanoke Valley District win over the Colonels. Pulaski County is 8-3 and 4-1. Deon Trussell led Fleming (6-3, 1-2) with 12 points.\ Cave Spring 48, E.C. Glass 31: Kelly Dierker's nine rebounds helped the Knights (12-2) defeat the visiting Hilltoppers (6-3) in a non-district game.
