OBIT NELMS, JOHN WILLIAM, SR. ("BILL")

NELMS, John William, Sr. ("Bill"), 86, of Vinton, died Tuesday, January 12, 1993 in a local hospital. He was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, an Army veteran of World War II, and was a retired manager of the Seaboard Finance Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Scott Nelms. Surviving are a son, John W. Nelms, Jr. of Richmond; a daughter, Ann Scott Nelms McDowell of Irvine, Calif.; sister, Mary Nelms St. Clair of Richmond. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 1993 with the Rev. Wm. Anthony Layman and the Rev. Dr. George Wesley Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton.
