OBIT NELSON, KATHLEEN GOODWIN, ("KITTY")

NELSON, Kathleen Goodwin, ("Kitty"), age 75, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, January 11, 1993. She was a longtime member of the Melrose Baptist Church. Among her many accomplishments, she was a mother to 84 foster children for the City of Roanoke Welfare Department. She was the widow of Blake Bee Nelson. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Frances N. and Edward Gray, King William, Dorothy N. (Dottie) and John H. Overstreet, Roanoke, Mary N. and Clayton E. Goin, Bedford Co.; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Alfred W. and JoAnn Nelson, Hampton; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy G. and Lomax Dozier, Pompano Beach, Fla.; two very special foster daughters, Sandra S. Bates, Dorothy F. Fleenor, both of Roanoke; four granddaughters; three grandsons; three stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; also many loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 1993 at noon at the Lotz Salem Chapel with Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Melrose Baptist Church Building Fund Phase 2 or the Alzheimer's Association. Friends may call at Lotz Salem Chapel.
