FOR THE RECORD
AmplificationIn a story in Sunday's paper about minority recruiting efforts by the Salem Police Department, Officer Kenneth Beaver told a reporter that he planned to stay in Salem long enough to retire there. After the story appeared, however, Beaver told the paper he has no plans to retire in Salem. Beaver also wanted to say that, in his opinion, the most qualified person should be hired for a job, regardless of color.
Because of a reporter's error, the name of Curtis Ingram, an officer who was fired recently, was misspelled in that story.
