The Roanoke Times & World-News said Tuesday it will begin distribution next month of Jobs Weekly, a free publication that will contain all the help-wanted classified advertising published in its Sunday editions.

Each Monday, starting Feb. 8, the newspaper will distribute 5,000 copies of Jobs Weekly containing job listings from the previous day. The new publication also will contain employment-related advertising, such as resume services and trade schools. It will be distributed in racks around the Roanoke Valley at commercial locations such as convenience stores, banks and shopping centers.

The newspaper also said it plans to offer delivery of advertising through its Pinpoint Target Marketing, a service that now delivers 19 magazine titles each week, enabling advertisers to specifically target ad campaigns. - Staff report

Boone & Co. to give $2,500 to TAP shelter

Boone & Co. said Tuesday it has agreed to give at least $2,500 this year to the transitional living center for the homeless sponsored by Total Action Against Poverty Inc.

Len Boone, president of the real estate company, gave TAP representative Cabell Brand a check for $1,000.

The 105-agent firm is raising the money by selling copies of a book, "Buying, Selling and Owning Your Own Home: Living the American Dream."

The firm hopes to give TAP up to $5,000 from book sales in six months, said Boone spokeswoman Sue Gotwalt. Boone agents will buy the books for $2 a copy and give them to their customers, she said. Of that amount, $1 goes to TAP. Copies also will be available to the public for $5, of which $4 will go to TAP. - Staff report
