HIGHLANDERS WIN ON JONES' LAST SHOT
Wes Jones sank a 12-foot jump shot with two seconds left Wednesday to give Glenvar a 58-56 high school boys' basketball victory over Radford.
Jones, with 12 points, was one of three players in double figures for the Highlanders (7-3). Matt Woolwine led Glenvar with 16 points and Jason Woolwine added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Radford, which tied the score at 56 with 20 seconds left, got a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds from Chris Hairston. Glenvar attempted only three free throws and Radford only seven in the cleanly played game. \

DALEVILLE - A poor second-half effort doomed the Cavaliers in a non-district matchup. Heritage (5-6) outscored Lord Botetourt 34-16 after halftime to turn a close game into a rout. The Pioneers got 19 offensive rebounds and took 25 free throws to only nine for the Cavaliers. Shannon Williams had 15 points to lead Lord Botetourt (4-4). \
