OBIT MCCLANAHAN, BEA YATES

McCLANAHAN, Bea Yates, 80, of Grundy, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 1993 in the Buchanan General Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Buchanan County, the daughter of the late Robert and Malinda Deel Yates. She was a member of the Grundy Church of Christ and a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery McClanahan on September 17, 1984; also preceded in death by three sisters, four brothers, and one grandson. Mrs. McClanahan is survived by two daughters, Dr. Charlene Lutes, Radford; Mrs. Mike (Janet) McMahon, Roanoke; one son, Keith McClanahan, Rt. 4, Grundy; four sisters, Mrs. Gage Sage, and Mrs. Ann Elswick, both of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Linda Vandyke, Route 4, Grundy; Mrs. Vivian Tice, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two brothers, Aubrey Yates, Abingdon, and Jack Yates, Crystal River, Fla., three grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, January 15, 1993 at the Grundy Church of Christ with Evangelists Clarence Greenleaf, Michael Trent, and Hillary Underwood officiating with burial to follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Va. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Thursday, January 14, 1993 after 3 p.m. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home chapel. The body will be moved to the Grundy Church of Christ noon on Friday to await the funeral hour. Active pallbearers will be nephews. Grundy Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
