Chesapeake Corp. announces chargesRICHMOND - Chesapeake Corp., a Richmond-based forest products company with operations in Roanoke, said it will take $13.1 million in charges for costs of restructuring and complying with new accounting rules.
The company will take a $3.4 million after-tax charge against the quarter ending Dec. 31 to help cover costs of restructuring its consumer products companies, selling its wood-treating business and writing off equipment at its paper mill in West Point, it said.
A $9.7 million charge will cover required accounting changes governing post-retirement health benefits and income taxes. - Associated Press\ Atlantic Coast to add 23 planes to fleet
STERLING - Atlantic Coast Airlines, a Sterling-based shuttle line, has signed a $110 million order that will add 23 planes to its 37-plane turboprop fleet.
The airline, which flies out of Dulles International Airport as United Express, will be the first U.S. customer for the twin-engine Jetstream 41 made by British Aerospace.
Atlantic will buy 17 of the 29-passenger planes, which have just begun to fly for European regional airlines. It also will buy six British Aerospace Jetstream 31 planes.
Atlantic will begin using the new planes in June, President Kerry Skeen said.
Atlantic said this week it would take over Air Wisconsin's United Express routes, including service between Roanoke Regional Airport and Dulles. - Associated Press
