WANDA C. WINGO has been commissioned by Gov. Douglas Wilder to serve on the Blue Ridge Regional Education and Training Council.The council was established recently to promote school/business partnerships and programs whose goal is to ensure that students receive the skills and training required of entry-level workers.
Wingo, chairwoman of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, teaches math and science at Woodrow Wilson Middle School. She also serves on the Fifth Planning District Commission and the Virginia Association of Counties Board of Directors.
\ HONEYTREE EARLY LEARNING CENTERS has announced the names of six teachers who earned their childhood development associate certificates during 1992 from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Certificate recipients in the infant/toddler specialty were: Lisa Newman, director of the West Salem location; Nancy Dooley, lead teacher of the toddler program at the U.S. 460 location; Denise Allen, lead teacher of 2-year-olds at the Lewis-Gale Hospital location; Sandy Hull, lead teacher of infants and toddlers at West Salem; and Mechele Hickman, lead teacher of 2-year-olds at West Salem.
Sandy Link, lead preschool teacher at West Salem earned a certificate in the preschool specialty.
