Family Service elects 1993 officers, boardPhillip F. Sparks, economic development administrator with the Sparks City of Roanoke, was elected president of Family Service of Roanoke Valley for 1993.
Other officers are: Lucas Snipes, first vice president; Robert Brown, second vice president; Reta Busher, treasurer; and Jodi Ayers, secretary.
New members of the board of directors are: Richard T. Hodges, James C. Sears, Patsy Wallace, and Zella Dillon.
Family Service of Roanoke Valley is a non-profit organization providing professional human services including counseling, home care and domestic violence treatment.
Penn Forest preschool enrolling for fall term
Penn Forest Christian Church Preschool will begin enrolling children for its 1993-94 term Monday.
The school operates daily from 9 a.m.-noon and offers two programs: a Monday/Wednesday/Friday session for 4- and 5-year-olds at $60 monthly; and a Tuesday/Thursday session for 3-year-olds at $40 monthly. The age cutoff date is Sept. 30. The school year will run from the Tuesday after Labor Day through the end of May.
A registration fee of $25 will hold a place in the fall class. For more information, call the church office at 774-2445, mornings, or the preschool director at 774-3989.
Radio organization elects 1993 officers
The Southwest Virginia Wireless Association has elected officers for 1993.
They are: Gordon Garrett, president; Clay Pardin, vice president; Wes Myers, secretary/treasurer; and Bill Svec, Groundwave editor.
The organization also announced an upcoming training class for new radio amateurs. Beginning Feb. 17, the class will be held from 7-9 p.m. each Wednesday through May at the American Red Cross chapter house, 352 Church Ave. S.W. The class if free, but there is a fee for the textbook.
The group also will hold testing sessions the second Friday of each month at the Red Cross.

Regular club meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Science Museum of Western Virginia in Center in the Square.
Paralegal association elects 1993 officers
The Roanoke Valley Paralegal Association has announced its officers and board of directors for 1993.
Officers are: Suzy Shober Sauerwald of Johnson, Ayers & Matthews, president; Margie Bowman of Wooten & Hart, vice president; Rose Marie Dudley of the Conflict Resolution Center, secretary; and Casey Dugan of Glenn, Flippen, Feldman & Darby, treasurer.
New members of the board of directors are Carol Doudiken, Dee King, Lorrie McCloskey, Laura Skeen and Lois Sumpter.
Tax help for elderly available starting Feb. 1
The League of Older Americans, in cooperation with the American Association of Retired Persons and the Internal Revenue Service, is providing free one-on-one assistance to low- and moderate-income older taxpayers from Feb. 1 through April 15.
Trained volunteers will be available to help individuals with federal and state personal income tax returns.
