VOTER TURNOUT IN LAST ELECTION BEST SINCE '68
Nearly 56 percent of the voting-age population cast ballots in November's presidential election, the best turnout in any White House contest since 1968, the Federal Election Commission said Thursday.The FEC said 104,552,736 people cast ballots Nov. 3 - nearly 13 million more than in 1988 and an all-time record for total voters.
The FEC estimated that 55.9 percent of the voting-age population went to the polls.
