INDEED, VALLEY FOLKS ARE GOOD NEIGHBORS

ON BEHALF of Roanoke Area Ministries, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the citizens of the Roanoke Valley for their generous support of the Good Neighbor Fund. Money has come in from folks who have very little themselves. Once again, their generosity and the sensitivity of everyone who responded to the fund demonstrates the willing effort of a caring community to join together to help each other.

Also, I am deeply indebted to the Roanoke Times & World-News for their continued support. They set an example for all of us to follow, in encouraging a community to work in cooperation for the common good of less fortunate citizens.

As an ecumenical ministry, RAM was designed, 25 years ago this year, to assist people with emergency situations. Money raised through the fund is used in its entirety for emergency outreach, with a small portion being used for RAM House, our comprehensive day shelter.

During 1992, citizens' generosity provided assistance to hundreds of families and individuals. Once again, they made the fund a success and ensured that hundreds will be able to receive assistance this year.

We are grateful for the overwhelming concern and support of the disadvantaged in our area.
