FOREMAN SET FOR NEXT PERFORMANCE

The fledgling actor was nervous until it became time to shoot the pilot for a proposed television sitcom series before an audience.

"The minute the audience came in he was terrific," said Tony Danza, a former club fighter turned TV star and the executive producer of the sitcom "George."

The actor who wasn't used to delivering lines written by someone else but who is used to performing in front of an audience was George Foreman.

His next performance, in which he will get a chance to ad-lib, will be tonight at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Nevada where he fights Pierre Coetzer of South Africa. Foreman still enjoys his role as a rich, active heavyweight and would like to star in another championship fight before retiring from boxing, which he plans to do at the end of this year.

Promoter Bob Arum said if the 44-year-old Foreman beats Coetzer, he then will fight 24-year-old Tommy Morrison in April if Morrison beats Carl "The Truth" Williams in another 10-round bout on the Convention Center card. The winner of a Foreman-Morrison fight would be in line for a title shot against Riddick Bowe.

In other boxing news:

Rap star Hammer, who said he has taken over from Dan Duva as Evander Holyfield's promoter, said he's going to help the former heavyweight champion regain the crown that he lost to Riddick Bowe last year.

"We're bringing him back," said Hammer, who has founded a sports management agency. "He's too legit to quit."

If true, it would mark at least the third time Holyfield has changed his mind about his boxing future since losing a unanimous decision to Bowe in a stirring 12-round fight on Nov. 13.

Holyfield said: "Now that I'm well-rested and I've seen tapes of the fight, realized that I made some mistakes, I know I can come back and possibly beat Bowe."
