MAN CHARGED IN EFFORT TO IMPERSONATE AGENT

A man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a member of the security detail for President-elect Clinton's inauguration-related stop in Charlottesville, the FBI said Friday.

Ricky T. Harris, 31, of Charlottesville, was being held pending a psychiatric evaluation ordered by a U.S. magistrate, said Roger Nisley, acting special agent in charge of the FBI's Richmond office.

Nisley said Harris checked into a Charlottesville motel Monday and indicated he was part of the security detail for Clinton's visit to Charlottesville this weekend.

An employee of the motel called authorities, who determined Harris had no connection with either the FBI or the Secret Service. When the FBI arrested Harris, agents seized a shotgun, several handguns, knives, throwing stars and an assortment of ammunition, Nisley said.

"Our investigation doesn't indicate there was a claim to harm anyone," Special Agent Will Garrett said.
