BLAND NIPS INDIANS IN 2OT

Kevin King scored 32 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and led the Bland Rockets to a thrilling 67-64 double-overtime victory over the Rural Retreat Indians in high school boys' basketball Saturday.

Rural Retreat (2-8) had a six-point lead - the biggest either team had all night - with 33 seconds left when King hit a 3-pointer. The Indians missed a shot and when Bland (6-4) got the ball back, King hit another 3-pointer to send the game into overtime.

MARION - Daniel Hall had 24 points, five steals and four assists as the Scarlet Hurricane knocked off the Maroons in a non-district game.

Ryan Cregger and Jason Lefler added 15 points each for the Scarlet Hurricane (6-6). George Wythe (6-6) was led by Tracy Brown with 15 points and Jeremey Shelton with 13. \

LYNCHBURG - Preston Snell had 14 points and Bryan Lightner added 13 as the Gaels whipped the outmanned Chiefs (1-11) in a Virginia Independent Conference game. Andrew Tunnell and Adnan Javid each had 13 to lead Carlisle, including four 3-pointers by Tunnell and three by Javid. \
