OBIT SAUNDERS, HALLIE VIRGINIA CROWDER

SAUNDERS, Hallie Virginia Crowder, 81, of 619 Franklin Avenue, Pulaski, died Saturday morning in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Wythe County on May 10, 1911, and she was the daughter of the late John L. Crowder and May Stoots Crowder. She was a member of the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pulaski, and was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell L. Saunders and by a daughter, Lillian (Mickey) Gonzales. Surviving are three daughters, Ellen Crowder, King, N. C., Donna Mathews, Roanoke, Va., Sylvia Smith, Pulaski, Va.; three sons, David Saunders, Royal Palm Beach, Fla., Mack Saunders Jr., Hiwassee, Va., Sammy Saunders, Pulaski, Va.; two sisters, Ruby Richardson, Sylvatus, Va., Margaret Amos, Petersburg, Va.; one brother, Harold Crowder, Strasburg, Va.; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with Minister Eddie Callahan and the Rev. Norman Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be Monday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pulaski. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
